In Arkansas, Holocaust Education Week is observed annually during the last full week of January. For the 2024–2025 school year, it is scheduled from January 27 to January 31, 2025. This observance is in accordance with Arkansas Code § 6-16-154, which mandates Holocaust education for all public school students in grades 5 through 12.
The Arkansas Department of Education provides materials and resources to support educators during this week. The commissioners memo is linked here: https://adecm.ade.arkansas.gov/ViewApprovedMemo.aspx?Id=5691
Observing Holocaust Education Week provides an opportunity for students and the community to learn about the historical significance of the Holocaust, reflect on its lessons, and promote tolerance and human dignity.
