K-12 Math Specialist
I started working as a K-12 Math Specialist at SCSC on July 2, 2018.
I retired from the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) on June 30, 2018, with almost 20 years as the Program Support Manager for the K-12 Math Professional Development Unit.
Prior to my work with ADE, I was the Northwest Arkansas Regional Coordinator for the Arkansas Statewide Systemic Initiative from 1994-1998 supporting schools in mathematics, science, literacy, and educational technology.
I was an Assistant Professor in the College of Education at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, AR from 1989-1994. I advised Elementary Education majors and taught the Elementary Math (K-8) Methods courses, both undergraduate and graduate level.
I began my teaching career at Page Middle School in Page, AZ., a few miles up stream from the Grand Canyon near Lake Powell, AZ. Approximately half of my students were Navajo children, most living on the Navajo Reservation with some speaking only Navajo.
I also taught 4th-5th-6th grades, all subjects, in a high poverty area of central Louisiana.
