I started teaching after my children were in school. I taugh at Magnolia Kindergarten as an instructional aide (ELLA Lab/PE) for 3 years while getting my degree in education. After, I graduated in December, I started the Master’s program and begin teaching at the begining of the next school year. I worked for Parkers Chapel School Distrist as a middle school science teacher for 11 wonderful years! I decide to use my masters and apply for the position at the Co op as a science specialist and have been here since 2015 and have enjoyed ever minute of it.
I did not know that I wanted to be a teacher and had not made any plans to become one until I was asked to sub. for the PE teacher at the Kindergarten where I lived. I was staying at home with my youngest child at the time, so I was able to do this long time Sub. position. While I was subing, as the PE teacher, I fell in love with the education system and wanted to be fulltime. I was hired fulltime and worked in the ELLA Lab, while going to school to be a teacher. During my training I was asked if I wanted to get my science ed. at the same time as I was getting my math ed. without adding extra years to my degree, I accepted and have never taught math at all just science and that has made all the difference. God was working in my life and I landed exactly where I needed to be!
When I’m not teaching/studying, I love to play with my 5 (and counting...lol) grandchildren (3 girls 7,3,20 months and two boys 6 months and 1 ). I also love to workout, camp, water ski, snow ski, ride bikes, participant in mud races such as Warrior Dash and Conquer the Gaunlet...I love just about anything outdoors!
