Welcome to the South Central Service Co-op's Gifted and Talented home page. Our goal is to assist member school districts and gifted educators in our area with the resources necessary to coordinate, implement, maintain, evaluate, and improve local programs for gifted and talented students. In order to accomplish this goal, the cooperative specialist for gifted programs offers technical assistance activities to aid districts in meeting the state standards for gifted and talented education and serves as a liaison with the ADE Office of Gifted and Talented Education and other parent and professional organizations.
In addition to professional development opportunities in the areas of creative thinking, critical thinking, differentiation, curriculum alignment and development, and Advanced Placement, the SCSC Gifted and Talented specialist also offers demonstration lessons, parent presentations, and assistance with school events such as Spelling Bees, National Geography Bee, Quiz Bowls, etc. Each year the cooperative staff assists in conducting a junior high quiz bowl for 7th, 8th, 9th grade students as well as 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grades.
Helpful information is also posted at this site for parents and other interested parties. Included are frequently asked questions regarding gifted education, Advanced Placement, schedules of events and meetings and links to other websites of interest.
