Warren High School is my hometown alma mater. I graduated from Warren High School in 1972. In 1976, I graduated with from Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, AR. SAU was good to me; I became a work study student and was blessed with the opportunity to work for the head football coach, Coach Rip Powell and his team. I was their secretary, and I absolutely loved the job, and my husband, Tim, was hired to mow the football field and to paint whatever needed painting.
My BSE was awarded by Southern Arkansas University. Immediately after I graduated and received my BSE, I began my Master’s work and was awarded a Master’s in Education two years later from SAU.
Licensing grew and grew to the point that I now have 9 areas listed on my lifetime teaching license. Some of the areas include 7-12 English, K-12 Reading Specialist, K-12 Curriculum Specialist, Elementary Principal, Secondary Principal, and District Level Administrator (Superintendent). As administrators needed me in different areas, I just went back to school, i.e., Henderson State University, Ouachita Baptist University, Seattle Pacific University, University of Central Arkansas, the University of Arkansas at Monticello, University of Arkansas (Fayetteville), and Southern Arkansas University to name the majority that I attended.
I am a lifelong learner, so I love professional development opportunities. The Program of Effective Teaching was probably the most influential training for me as a young teacher. As an administrator, the trainings that influenced me greatly were Classroom Walk-through, Investment in Excellence, Seven Habits of HIghly Effective People, and TICAL conferences for the last 13 years. I LOVE the training that I have received from the AR Leadership Academy to the extent that I served year after year as a school improvement coach. One of the most influential trainings that I have participated in since I have been the director of South Central Service Cooperative is the Leader to Leader training located at The Center of Administrative Leadership at Arkansas Tech University. This training was conducted by Dr.
